THE BIFOCALERS


            This sculpture is the outcome of observations made while touring the museums in Washington D.C. A bifocal wearer myself, I readily empathized with all whom I saw posturing to read the title cards on famous works of art. There is much wisdom in being able to laugh at one's self. This sculpture is my way of portraying the humor that can be found in all of us.

     Another aspect to this work is that bifocal wearers are generally older, established people. Here are two elder men postured in an expression of set minds actively questioning what they see as a challenge to established traditional concepts. It conveys a duel of principles between the abstract and the conventional
