"Forms
of Endearment" is my statement
about love. Most artists in depicting "love" place the emphasis
on its sexual aspect. Sex is only a facet of love. "Love"
as a term means so much more than a synonym for sex. Love is safe.
Love is friendship taken to its highest level. Love is an old pair
of shoes, it's like the blanket, doll or teddy bear that as a child,
we could not part. Love is a warm fire and a good book on a cold rainy
night. Love is trust, patience, and benevolence.
The
title word "Forms," was used, as would be constructive forms
that contain, secure, or bridge. These forms were constructed to contain
the expression of love as a permanent structure. The male, larger
figure signifies strength, his position expresses safety and tenderness
without dominance. The female's position conveys harmony without being
subordinate. The enfolded hands of both figures completes the wreath
of love's expression.
