MEXICO

Living in California for over 20 years and then on Maui, Hawaii for 13 years, I arrived at the belief that the original inhabitants of Mexico were from the same source as the Hawaiians…they just went further east. Too many similarities exist in their physical makeup, their diets, and their culture not to have been of the same family. This face, a composition of Polynesian features, was created to exhibit my point. The full lips, broad nose and epicanthic eyes were exaggerated to emphasize the magnificence of the Polynesian race. Reflected in this work is the face of a people who are generous and loving, sensual and handsome. It shows a pride that is passionate and a strength of mind and body that is formidable. As little detail as possible was given to the features to emphasize simplicity. They are an uncomplicated, trusting people with simple needs whose lives are bound in partnership with the earth, sky and waters.
