The ultimate honor
to one’s memory and a time in their lives, living or dead is a sculpted portrait.
A three dimensional portrait brings the person to life as no painting or photo
can. They are touchable. They have life, warmth and presence. They are monuments
of memories that will never die.
Personalities
are made up of a multitude of internal and external characteristics constantly
in motion. Using photographs, those fleeting nuances by which one is intimately
known are frozen in place and the essence of each subject’s countenance is
held captive for me to bring to life in clay.
These
are just a few of many portrait commissions, but they provide colorful examples
of personalities who, through their portrait, will live for generations.
