Begun
as an experiment in combining triangular shapes, this sculpture finished
as a dynamic work alive with action. The triangular shapes in the
rooster from his beak, his neck feathers, tail and feet accentuate
his zeal as the hen house sergeant. Teetering precariously from his
fence post perch, his entire being juts forward with the thrust of
his early morning trumpeting. His prideful nature is obvious. The
vibrant colored neck feathers were done with automobile body paint
to imitate those of the showy fighting cock.
I
like this work because there's also an underlying intensity being
displayed here that is much like my own. This rooster's fervor for
what he does is a projection of the passion I have for what I do.
